Brazil - Severe weather (Government of Santa Catarina, INMET, media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 2 July 2020)

Country: Brazil Source: European Commission s Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations Heavy rain and strong wind were reported on 30 June across south Brazil, leaving at least 10 people dead and causing widespread damage. The most affected areas are Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul States. National authorities in Santa Catarina confirmed 9 fatalities and 2 missing people. Several houses and road sections have been damaged, and power outages were also reported. In Rio Grande do Sul, a landslide in Nova Prata caused one fatality. Light to locally moderate rain is forecast over the affected states on 2-3 July.
