Rand extends gains, dips below R17 to the dollar

JOHANNESBURG - The Rand continued its rally, strengthening below R17 to the dollar for the first time since February 2023.The move follows government’s decision to adopt a lower inflation target.READ| G20 global inequality report shows bottom 50% of humanity share 1% of wealthAt lunchtime, the local currency is trading at R16.98 to the dollar.Meanwhile, the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) also hit record highs of above 115,000 points, lifted by gains in resource and banking stocks.
