Nyoka family welcomes guilty verdict Estelle.Bronkhorst Wed, 12/03/2025 - 05:58 JOHANNESBURG - Caiphus Nyoka s family has welcomed the guilty verdict against two apartheid-era police officers for his 1987 murder. A third officer was acquitted. Nyoka, a Congress of South African Students leader, was shot and killed at his Daveyton home. A fourth officer, Johan Marais, pleaded guilty and received 15 years in July.READ: Apartheid-era officers found guilty of murdering Caiphus NyokaYet for the Nyoka family, closure remains e they still have unanswered questions about their son s murder.The Foundation for Human Rights says there s hope justice will reach all who suffered under apartheid-era injustices.Both accused officers have been remanded in custody until the 11th December, when the court will determine their bail applications.eNCA s Bafedile Moerane reports.
